Chapel Hill's psychedelic doom trio — crushing, meditative post-metal that swells from drone to avalanche and back again.
MAKE formed in the Chapel Hill area of North Carolina and works as a three-piece, with guitar, bass and drums all doubling as vocal sources. Their material tends toward long-form structures built on repetition: slow, heavily distorted riffs that unfold over several minutes, stretches of feedback and clean-toned drift, and shouted or howled vocals that surface intermittently rather than carrying a conventional melody. The band has kept to independent labels and self-releases, and their records lean on volume and duration as much as on riffs, drawing on both traditional doom metal and the quieter, more atmospheric end of post-metal.
