East LA souldies revivalists — slow-burning, string-laden Chicano soul straight out of the lowrider-oldies tradition, dedicated to the slow dance.

Thee Sinseers formed in Los Angeles in 2019, led by bandleader Joey Quiñones, who grew up in East Los Angeles and writes, plays and produces much of the group's material. The band built its identity quietly, working through the sounds of R&B and soul rather than chasing outside trends.

Their music sits inside the Chicano soul and oldies tradition of Southern California: slow ballads, triplet-feel rhythms, organ, and close harmony vocals, all captured in a deliberately vintage recording style that leans on warmth over polish.

Like several acts from that scene, Thee Sinseers have released through Penrose Records, and their songs are staples of the lowrider oldies circuit that keeps sixties soul in circulation across East LA and beyond.

Their latest record, Love Stories, arrived on Colemine Records and leans into earthier instrumentation, standup bass and guitars run through amplifiers for a warmer, sixties-adjacent tone. Quiñones has described the album's reach beyond straightforward romance, taking in family, complication and things left unresolved, more an unsent letter than a tidy love story.
