Makua Rothman is a Hawaiian surfer and musician from Oahu. He built his reputation in big-wave surfing before turning to music, and his songs draw on island reggae, soul and acoustic pop traditions familiar from Hawaii's local scene. His singing is soft-edged and melodic, backed by loping reggae rhythms and slack guitar textures, with lyrics that tend toward the ocean, family and home.
