Newfound Road
Ohio band built on Tim Shelton's soul-inflected lead voice, back in 2026 with a new label and new material after more than a decade away.
Newfound Road came together in southwest Ohio in 2001, starting out in bluegrass gospel before broadening into secular material and signing with Rounder Records. Tim Shelton sang lead and played guitar, and much of the band's identity came from the way he phrased a melody, closer to a soul or country singer than to the high lonesome tradition. The arrangements leaned on that voice, keeping the banjo and mandolin in support rather than out front. Shelton put the band back together in 2026 after more than a decade away, with a new lineup and a new label.
