The Cox Family

1 upcoming festival

Northwest Louisiana family band whose blood harmony reached the O Brother, Where Art Thou soundtrack and a Grammy-winning gospel album made with Alison Krauss.

The Cox Family began as a working band in Cotton Valley, in the northwest corner of Louisiana, with Willard Cox on fiddle and his children Evelyn, Suzanne and Sidney filling out the group. Suzanne's lead singing and the family's tight, closely tuned harmony drew the attention of Alison Krauss, who produced their records for Rounder and sang with them.

A serious car accident in 2000 left Willard badly injured and the band largely off the road for years. They regrouped and made another album with Krauss producing, keeping the same mix of country songs, gospel numbers and older material.
