Ralph Stanley II, known as Two, grew up in Dickenson County, Virginia, and joined his father's Clinch Mountain Boys as guitarist and lead singer in 1995, when he was still a teenager. He took over leadership of the band after Ralph Stanley's death in 2016. His baritone sits lower and rounder than his father's, and it suits honky-tonk as readily as it does the Stanley Brothers songbook, which he keeps in the sets alongside his own recordings.
