Guitarist and singer who spent years in the Special Consensus lineup before stepping out front with his own writing.

Rick Faris grew up in a musical family in Kansas and spent roughly a decade playing guitar and singing with the Special Consensus, the Chicago-based band led by Greg Cahill. He left to record and perform under his own name, writing much of his own material and working as a producer and session player. His guitar work is flatpicked in the standard bluegrass manner, and he sings lead.
