Nashville teenage country songwriter turned the biggest pop act alive, now re-recording her own back catalogue to own the masters.

Taylor Swift moved from Pennsylvania to the Nashville area as a teenager and signed to Big Machine, writing or co-writing her own material from the start. Fearless and Red kept a country frame while the songs grew steadily more pop, and 1989 dropped the country instrumentation entirely.

Folklore and Evermore, both released in 2020 with Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff, used muted piano and guitar and third-person storytelling. After her masters were sold without her, she began re-recording the early albums under the Taylor's Version titles, adding songs held back at the time. The Eras Tour ran three hours or more, drawing on each record in turn.
