The Heavy Heavy

1 festival played

Brighton outfit trading in sun-bleached late-sixties harmony rock — twin vocals, jangling guitars and a fondness for Laurel Canyon warmth.

The Heavy Heavy formed in Brighton around the songwriting partnership of Georgie Fuller and Will Turner, and began releasing music toward the end of the 2010s. The pair build songs around interlocking male and female lead vocals, layered harmony and analogue-sounding production that draws openly on late-1960s and early-1970s rock — fuzzed guitars, tambourine, organ and gospel-inflected backing parts. Their recordings were made largely in a home setup, which contributes to the warm, slightly cluttered texture of the arrangements. Live, the group expands to a full band, with the two singers trading and doubling lines.
