'Last Resort' to now — nu-metal survivors who never stopped filling fields, with Jacoby Shaddix still working every inch of stage.

Papa Roach formed in Vacaville, California, in 1993, with Jacoby Shaddix on vocals. They broke through at the turn of the millennium with Infest and its single "Last Resort," which paired rapped verses and a sung chorus in the manner then dominating American rock radio. Rather than remain fixed to that template, the band moved gradually toward straightforward hard rock and alternative metal across subsequent albums, keeping the big choruses while dropping much of the rap phrasing. Shaddix's between-song exhortations and constant movement are a fixture of their live show. They have continued recording and touring steadily for more than three decades.
