Trey Hensley is a guitarist and singer based in Nashville, best known for his long-running partnership with dobro player Rob Ickes. Raised in East Tennessee, he came up playing bluegrass and made early appearances at the Grand Ole Opry as a teenager.
As a flatpicker he favours fast, hard-driving lead lines rooted in the bluegrass tradition, but his singing leans toward country and Southern rock phrasing, and the Ickes and Hensley duo has drawn on blues and rock material alongside standard bluegrass repertoire. The pairing has recorded several albums together and picked up recognition from the bluegrass community.
