Polished country-pop harmonies engineered for weddings and award shows alike.

Dan + Shay formed in Nashville in 2012 when Dan Smyers, from Pennsylvania, and Shay Mooney, from Arkansas, met at a party and started writing songs together the following day. Mooney had previously recorded as a solo artist on T-Pain's Nappy Boy Entertainment label, while Smyers had played in the bands Bonaventure and Transition. Within two months the pair had signed a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Music.

Their debut single, "19 You + Me," went to country radio in October 2013, followed by the album Where It All Began in April 2014. The duo made their Grand Ole Opry debut that February and picked up an Academy of Country Music nomination for Vocal Duo of the Year, touring as support for Hunter Hayes and Blake Shelton before headlining shows of their own.

The group's sound rests on close two-part harmony and pop songcraft, with acoustic-guitar-and-keyboard arrangements that sit closer to contemporary pop than to traditional country instrumentation, much of it produced by Smyers himself.

Signed to Warner Records Nashville, Dan + Shay have released six albums, among them Obsessed, Dan + Shay, Good Things and Bigger Houses, with five of their nine singles topping the Country Airplay chart. They are best known for slow, melodic ballads including "Tequila" and "Speechless."

Collaborations have included Justin Bieber on "10,000 Hours," as well as Charlie Puth, Rascal Flatts, Lindsey Stirling, RaeLynn and Kelly Clarkson. Between 2019 and 2021 the duo won three consecutive Grammy Awards for Best Country Duo/Group Performance, for "Tequila," "Speechless" and "10,000 Hours."
