Jehnny Beth

1 upcoming festival

The Savages frontwoman solo — total physical commitment, an unblinking stare, and songs that treat intensity as the point rather than the garnish.

Jehnny Beth is the stage name of Camille Berthomier, a French musician who grew up in Poitiers and later based herself in London. She first recorded as half of the duo John & Jehn before fronting Savages, the London post-punk band whose two albums paired taut, high-tension arrangements with declamatory vocals.

Her solo album To Love Is to Live moved further into electronics and stark production while keeping that directness. She sings in a low, deliberate register, often close to speech, and her performances rely on stillness and sustained eye contact as much as movement. She has also worked as an actor and as a collaborator with other songwriters and producers.
