Joseph Terrell is an American singer, guitarist and songwriter, and one of the founding members of the North Carolina string band Mipso, which he formed with fellow University of North Carolina students. Alongside that group's four-part harmony folk and country, he has released work under his own name.

His solo songs are plainly arranged and largely acoustic, with an emphasis on lyrics and narrative rather than production, drawing on the topical folk tradition and on the landscape and politics of the Piedmont region where he grew up.
