Linkin Park formed in the late 1990s in the Los Angeles area and became one of the most widely heard rock bands of the 2000s, combining rapped and sung vocals, electronics, samples and heavy guitar. Their early work was central to nu metal's mainstream peak, though later albums moved through electronic rock and pop directions.
The band stopped performing after the death of singer Chester Bennington in 2017. They resumed activity in 2024 with Emily Armstrong sharing vocals alongside co-founder Mike Shinoda, returning to touring and releasing new material.
