Nat Myers
Korean-American country-blues revivalist — National steel guitar and dust-bowl holler, prewar blues played like breaking news.
Nat Myers was born in Kansas in 1990 and raised in northern Kentucky, a Korean-American singer, guitarist and poet who came to the blues by way of writing and record collecting rather than any family tradition passed down to him.
He plays largely solo, on resonator and acoustic guitar, working in a prewar country-blues idiom drawn from the Delta and Piedmont players of the 1920s and 30s. His own songs turn that inherited sound toward the present, addressing race, work and displacement in language as direct as reportage.
His debut album, Yellow Peril, was produced by Dan Auerbach and released on Easy Eye Sound in 2023, the record that introduced his hollering, National-steel take on prewar blues to a wider audience. In February 2025, Myers announced that he had been diagnosed with sarcoma surrounding his heart and pulmonary artery.
