Otoboke Beaver
Kyoto four-piece playing punk at impossible speed with abrupt stops — one of the most exhilarating live bands going, precision chaos with a grin.
Otoboke Beaver are a four-piece from Kyoto, formed at a university music club, playing very fast, tightly arranged punk with sudden tempo shifts and abrupt stops. Their songs are usually under two minutes, sung largely in Japanese, with lyrics that take a sardonic view of relationships, work and social expectation. They signed to Damnably and later Rough Trade, and their reputation rests heavily on live performance, where the band's coordination and stage presence carry the material.
