Maná formed in Guadalajara, Mexico, in the mid-1980s and became one of the most widely heard rock bands in the Spanish-speaking world. Fronted by Fher Olvera with drummer Alex González, the group combines straightforward rock arrangements with reggae and ska rhythms, Latin percussion and a strong strain of balladry. Songs including "Rayando el Sol," "Oye Mi Amor" and "Clavado en un Bar" are standards across Latin America, and the band has long paired its commercial success with environmental campaigning. Their concerts are arena and stadium affairs built around a deep back catalogue of singalongs.
