Paris Paloma
Mythic, incantatory folk-pop — 'Labour' made her the internet's feminist bard, and the deeper catalog keeps the incantation going.
Paris Paloma grew up in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, and attended Cheltenham Ladies' College before studying Fine Art and History of Art at Goldsmiths, University of London, where she graduated in 2022. The symbolism she worked with as a student carries directly into her songwriting, where mythology, folklore and religious imagery recur throughout her lyrics and artwork.
Her songs draw on mythology, folklore and religious imagery, with layered vocals, fingerpicked guitar and arrangements that build from quiet openings into chant-like choruses. She began recording with producer Harry Charlton in 2020, releasing early singles such as "Narcissus," "Ocean Baby," "cradle" and "Underneath" before compiling them onto her debut EP, cemeteries and socials, in 2021.
A cover of "Tell It to My Heart" brought her wider attention after Hozier shared it online. Paloma signed with Nettwerk in 2022 and released "Forsaken" and "Notre Dame" as her first singles under the label, setting up the breakthrough that followed a few months later.
That breakthrough was "labour," released in March 2023, a song about domestic and emotional labour that reached a million Spotify streams within a day of release. A trend of women relating the song to their own lives spread quickly online, and it became her first single to chart in both the UK and the US.
Her debut album, Cacophony, followed in 2024, and her subsequent releases have continued in the same register, treating female anger, folklore and the natural world as recurring subjects. A second album, The Fatal Flaw, was announced for 2026, alongside newer singles including "Good Boy," featuring an introduction from Emma Thompson, and the anti-AI song "Miyazaki."
