Wind Rose are an Italian band formed in 2009, working in a mix of power metal, folk metal and symphonic arrangement. Their material draws heavily on dwarven imagery borrowed from Tolkien-influenced fantasy, with stomping mid-tempo rhythms, orchestral keyboards, gang vocals and choruses written to be shouted back.
The group's audience grew substantially online, helped by their cover of "Diggy Diggy Hole" and by the album Wintersaga, whose title track became their best-known song. Live, they play up the theme with matching costume and percussion-led sing-alongs.
