Chicago-area group that folded keyboards and sweeping synth leads into deathcore early, helping define the technical, djent-adjacent wing of the genre.

Born of Osiris formed in the suburbs of Chicago in 2003, emerging from the same mid-2000s American scene that produced a wave of technically minded heavy bands. Their music combines the palm-muted, syncopated riffing associated with djent and progressive metalcore with harsh vocals, blast-driven drumming and prominent keyboard parts — layered synth leads and orchestral washes that sit alongside the guitars rather than behind them.

That combination of deathcore aggression and keyboard-led melody became one of the group's identifying traits, and they are often cited among the bands that pushed progressive and technical elements into the style. They have worked on Sumerian Records for much of their career.
