Danzig is the band led by Glenn Danzig, who founded the Misfits in Lodi, New Jersey, in 1977 and later fronted Samhain. The group formed in the late 1980s and built its sound around Danzig's baritone croon, blues-derived riffing and lyrics steeped in occult and biblical imagery. The self-titled debut, produced by Rick Rubin, included "Mother," which became a hit some years after its release when a live version and video circulated on MTV.
Across subsequent records the band has moved between heavy blues-rock, industrial-tinged material and darker, slower pieces. Live sets typically draw on the Danzig catalogue alongside Misfits and Samhain songs.
