Currents is a metalcore band from Newtown, Connecticut, active since 2012. Their music combines downtuned, rhythmically intricate riffing with melodic passages and clean-sung sections, and their songs tend to swing sharply between heavy breakdown-driven stretches and quieter, more atmospheric ones. Critics and listeners have also picked up traces of deathcore and progressive metal in the writing. The band has released a series of albums through Sharptone Records and has toured widely within the heavy music circuit.
