Infected Rain formed in Chișinău, Moldova in 2008, and are fronted by Elena Cataraga, who performs as Lena Scissorhands. Her vocal range across the band's material takes in melodic singing, rhythmic spoken and rapped passages and harsh screaming, often within a single song.
The music behind her sits between nu metal and metalcore, built on syncopated, downtuned riffing and electronic accents. Albums including Endorphin and Ecdysis brought the band a following well beyond Eastern Europe, and they have toured extensively in the United States and across the continent.
