A Kentucky native coming home, with a blues-soaked voice that outlived the one song everyone remembers — 'One of Us' just the front door.

Joan Osborne grew up in Kentucky and began performing in New York clubs in the late 1980s. Her 1995 album Relish brought wide attention, largely through the single "One of Us," and established a voice rooted in blues, gospel and Southern soul phrasing rather than straight pop singing.

Her subsequent work has ranged across roots styles, including records of soul covers and an album of Bob Dylan songs. She has also performed as a singer with surviving members of the Funk Brothers and toured with the Dead, experience that shows in a live approach built around interpretation and band interplay.
