Tedeschi Trucks Band formed in 2010 around the married pair of Susan Tedeschi, a blues singer and guitarist, and Derek Trucks, the slide guitarist known for his work with the Allman Brothers Band and his own Derek Trucks Band. Based in Jacksonville, Florida, the group is unusually large, with a horn section, multiple backing vocalists and two drummers.
Their music draws on blues rock, Southern soul, gospel and jam-band improvisation, with long instrumental passages built around Trucks's open-tuned slide playing and Tedeschi's full-throated singing. They are primarily known as a live act, playing extended sets that mix original material with covers from the blues and soul repertoire.
