KT Tunstall is a Scottish singer, guitarist and songwriter, born in Edinburgh and raised in St Andrews. Her 2004 debut Eye to the Telescope produced "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" and "Suddenly I See," both of which became lasting radio staples, and she has released steadily since across a run of albums.

She is closely associated with solo live looping: building drum patterns, guitar parts and vocal harmonies in real time from a loop pedal, a technique that first drew attention during an early television performance. The songs themselves sit between folk, blues-inflected rock and straightforward pop, usually built around her voice and an acoustic or electric guitar.
