Denver bass producer working a grimy, texture-heavy strain of dubstep and halftime — sound design first, drops second, and a devoted underground following.

Mersiv is the project of Denver-based producer Tyler Maskin, working in the bass music scene that has clustered around Colorado over the past decade. The music sits between dubstep and halftime, built on detailed, often abrasive sound design — synths that squelch, snap and decay in unusual ways — rather than straightforward drop mechanics, with tempos and rhythms that shift under the low end.

Mersiv has released steadily through the American bass underground and built a following largely through live performance, where the emphasis falls on immersive, heavily processed textures and long-form sets.
