Classically trained cellist turned bass heavyweight who sings on her own emotionally raw records — trap-sized drops carrying genuinely vulnerable songwriting underneath.

Alison Wonderland is the stage name of Alexandra Sholler, who grew up in Sydney training as a classical cellist and performing with the Sydney Youth Opera before playing bass guitar in local indie rock bands. She is of Austrian and Croatian descent, and her stage name is a play on Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland.

She found dance music at a club called Candy's Apartment, where hearing the Knife's "Silent Shout" sent her over to ask the DJ what the track was. That moment redirected her from indie rock toward production and DJing, work she began putting out through remixes, including a 2012 rework of Sam Sparro's "I Wish I Never Met You".

Her debut single, "Get Ready", appeared in 2013, and she signed to EMI Music Australia the following year, touring warehouses nationally as a DJ. The 2014 EP Calm Down produced the singles "I Want U", co-written with Djemba Djemba, and "Cold"; "I Want U" reached the ARIA top forty and was later certified gold.

Her 2015 debut album, Run, reached number six on the ARIA chart and went gold, and her second album, Awake, debuted at number one on Billboard's Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. She was placed at ninety-six on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs in 2018.

Her records combine heavy, trap-influenced low end and festival-scale drops with lyrics that deal openly with anxiety, heartbreak and mental health. She sings and writes on much of her own material, and also performs as one half of the duo Whyte Fang.
