Lawrence (Felt, Denim) in his glam-pop era — Britain's greatest cult songwriter, still chasing the hit he has always deserved.

Mozart Estate is the current project of Lawrence, the Birmingham-born songwriter who founded Felt in the early 1980s and later led Denim and Go-Kart Mozart. The name was adopted in 2021, and the music continues the direction of his later work: short, hook-heavy songs built from glam-rock stomps, bubblegum pop melodies, cheap-sounding synthesizers and deadpan, often satirical lyrics about British life.

Lawrence has spent his career at the edges of the mainstream, admired by other songwriters and documented in the film Lawrence of Belgravia, without commercial success on the scale he has openly sought. The Mozart Estate records keep that tension audible, pairing deliberately unfashionable production with pop songcraft.
