Mustard Plug formed in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1991 and became one of the more durable American bands of the third-wave ska boom. Fronted by vocalist Dave Kirchgessner, the group pairs punk tempos and guitar with a horn section, writing short, fast songs with upbeat melodies and shouted choruses.
Much of their catalogue appeared on Hopeless Records, including Evildoers Beware! and Pray for Mojo, and the band toured heavily through the late 1990s alongside the era's other ska-punk acts. Where many of those bands broke up when the trend passed, Mustard Plug kept playing, and have continued releasing records and touring in the decades since.
