Togolese voodoo-pop — call-and-response trance over analog synth bass, women's voices carrying ritual into the club.

Nana Benz Du Togo are a group from Lomé who take their name from the women textile traders who dominated Togo's wax-print market and became known for the Mercedes cars their success paid for. The ensemble is built around female voices drawn from vodun ceremonial singing, set against electronic production, synthesizer bass and programmed percussion rather than a conventional band. The result keeps the layered, repetitive call-and-response structures of ritual chant while pushing them toward a dancefloor context, and the group performs in the striking printed cloth that gives them their name.
