Superheaven formed in Doylestown, Pennsylvania in 2008, initially under the name Daylight. The band plays thick, downtuned alternative rock with roots in early-1990s grunge and post-hardcore, built on distorted guitar and shared vocals.

Their 2013 album Jar included 'Youngest Daughter', a song that found a far larger audience years after release through streaming and social media, drawing new listeners to a catalogue the band had made for a small hardcore-adjacent scene. Superheaven were largely inactive through the late 2010s before returning to touring and recording.
