Deb Never
Grunge guitar tone and a half-whispered vocal over hip-hop drums — hazy, lovesick songs that sound recorded at 3am and mixed to stay there.
Deb Never is a singer, songwriter and producer based in Los Angeles, raised in Washington state. Her music runs guitar textures borrowed from grunge and 90s alternative rock through hip-hop and R&B production, with vocals kept low and close to the microphone rather than belted. She emerged through a run of self-released tracks and EPs in the late 2010s, and reached a wider audience after appearing on Brockhampton's album Ginger, on the song "No Halo". Her writing tends toward short, direct songs about attachment, drift and self-doubt, and she has continued to work as both a vocalist and a producer on her own material.
