South London genre-blur — drill, indie, and R&B folded into diaristic collage, homemade and heartsore in equal measure.

Jim Legxacy was born James Folorunso Ifeanyi Olaloye in 2000, of Nigerian descent, and raised in Catford in the London Borough of Lewisham. He attended art school with plans to become a graphic designer before turning to music at nineteen, after hearing Kanye West's The Life of Pablo.

He released a run of early EPs, Dynasty Program in 2019, BTO! in 2020 and Citadel in 2021, playing his first live show at The Waiting Room in Islington that December. His debut mixtape, Homeless N*gga Pop Music, followed in 2023.

He self-produces most of his own material, layering UK drill and rap cadences over samples drawn from indie rock, emo and R&B, and his releases tend to be structured as loose, personal collages rather than conventional song sequences. The lyrics are diaristic, dealing with grief, family and growing up in London.

In 2023 he co-wrote and co-produced 'Sprinter' for Central Cee and Dave, which became the longest-running number-one rap song in UK chart history. The following year he released 'nothings changed (!)', dedicated to his sister Atinuke Olaloye, who had died of sickle cell anaemia, and was credited on two tracks from Fred Again's album Ten Days.

His second mixtape, Black British Music, arrived in 2025 through XL Recordings, his first release on a label. His homemade approach and refusal to sit within any one UK scene have made him one of the more distinctive voices to emerge from the city's rap fringes.
