Bricknasty formed in Ballymun, on Dublin's north side, and built a sound that draws on neo-soul, funk and jazz without settling neatly into any of them. The group's music leans on loose, elastic rhythm playing and layered vocal harmony, with arrangements that shift tempo and texture mid-song rather than holding to a steady groove. Irish accents and local slang stay audible in the writing, which has been part of why the band stood out among the wave of Dublin acts working in R&B and jazz-adjacent styles.
