South London rapper writing warm, funny, unmistakably local verses over soul-leaning production — 'Peng Black Girls' announced a genuinely fresh voice.
Enny, born Enitan Adepitan, grew up in Thamesmead as one of six siblings in a family of Nigerian heritage. Her father taught her keyboard, and she danced with a local street crew that moved to American hip-hop, picking up gospel and jazz from family and friends along the way. Music shaped her household long before she started writing verses of her own.
After school she spent two years trying to break into the film industry and came away unsatisfied, turning instead to music and freestyling. She began posting freestyle videos on YouTube, and that exposure led to her self-released debut single, 'He's Not Into You', in April 2020, built around blunt truths about relationships.
Her verses stay conversational and observational, built from everyday London detail rather than club-ready hooks. She delivers them over live-sounding, soul and jazz-leaning production, a choice that sets her apart from more beat-driven UK rap.
The single reached her manager, Pascal, who brought her into the studio programme Root 73; Jorja Smith then scouted her and signed her to FAMM, Smith's own label. 'Peng Black Girls', featuring Amia Brave, followed and drew wide attention, later reworked as a remix with Smith herself. She went on to release the EP Under Twenty Five.
