Danish-Portuguese singer reviving late-'90s R&B production with an almost whispered delivery — soft-spoken songs with an uncanny period-perfect gloss.

Erika de Casier is a Danish-Portuguese singer, songwriter and producer based in Copenhagen. She works in a strain of R&B that draws heavily on the sound of the late 1990s and early 2000s: clipped drum programming, glassy synth pads, muted guitar figures and a vocal kept close to the microphone and low in volume. Her lyrics tend toward the conversational, dealing with attraction, doubt and boundaries in fairly direct language.

Before her solo work she recorded as part of the duo Saint Cava. She has also written for other artists, including contributions to material by the K-pop group NewJeans, and her own records have circulated well beyond Denmark on the strength of their production detail.
