Syd, born Sydney Bennett in Los Angeles, is a singer, producer and engineer best known as the vocalist and a founding member of the band The Internet. She first became visible through Odd Future, where she worked as an engineer and DJ before shifting to the front of her own project.
Her singing is soft and close-mic'd, sitting low in arrangements that lean on bass, muted guitar and unhurried drum programming — a strand of alternative R&B that draws on neo-soul without raising its voice. She has also released solo albums and EPs, and produces much of her own material.
