The Script
Dublin's arena-pop reliables — 'Breakeven' and a decade of radio-rock comfort food.
The Script were formed in Dublin by Danny O'Donoghue and Mark Sheehan, who had worked together as songwriters and producers before starting the band with drummer Glen Power. Their 2008 self-titled debut established the formula: mid-tempo pop-rock built on piano and clean guitar, with lyrics that borrow cadences from R&B and hip-hop phrasing. 'The Man Who Can't Be Moved' and 'Breakeven' both came from that record.
Later singles including 'For the First Time' and 'Hall of Fame', a collaboration with will.i.am, kept the band in arenas across Europe. Sheehan died in 2023. O'Donoghue, also known to UK audiences from his time as a coach on The Voice, has continued to lead the group.
