Banjo-led Ohio folk warmth — campfire songs grown to amphitheater size, with ragged harmonies that make sincerity feel like the whole point.

CAAMP began in Athens, Ohio, as a duo of Taylor Meier and Evan Westfall, childhood friends who met at a summer camp in middle school and started playing together as students; Meier writes and sings the songs, while Westfall's banjo gives the group much of its identifiable texture. The lineup later expanded for recording and touring, adding bassist Matt Vinson, keyboardist Joseph Kavalec and drummer Nick Falk.

The band's material sits in the indie-folk and Americana range, built on acoustic guitar, banjo and plainspoken lyrics about small-town life, friendship and growing older.

Their self-titled debut came out in 2016 on Square Roots Records, followed by a six-song EP in 2018 and the album By and By in 2019, which debuted at number one on the Heatseekers chart. Their 2022 album Lavender Days included the single Apple Tree Blues, which turned up on Barack Obama's summer playlist that year.

A quarantine-era performance of their song Wunderbar aired on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2020. More recently, the single Let Things Go reached number one on the Americana radio chart in 2025, and And It's Gone became the main title theme for the Apple TV+ series Stick.

They built an audience largely through streaming and steady touring, moving from clubs to considerably larger rooms over the course of the 2010s and into sold-out shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Nationwide Arena in their home state.
