Banjo-led Ohio folk warmth — campfire songs grown to amphitheater size, with ragged harmonies that make sincerity feel like the whole point.

CAAMP began in Athens, Ohio, as a duo of Taylor Meier and Evan Westfall, childhood friends who started playing together as students. Meier writes and sings the songs, while Westfall's banjo gives the group much of its identifiable texture; the lineup later expanded for recording and touring.

The band's material sits in the indie-folk and Americana range, built on acoustic guitar, banjo and plainspoken lyrics about small-town life, friendship and growing older. They built an audience largely through streaming and steady touring, moving from clubs to considerably larger rooms over the course of the 2010s.
