A Fife songwriter and a Swedish harmony singer trading verses — spare, generous folk built for a room where nobody talks over it.

James Yorkston is a songwriter from the East Neuk of Fife in Scotland, associated with the Fence Collective and with a long run of albums on Domino. His writing tends towards long, conversational narratives and traditional folk phrasing, often delivered in a soft, unforced voice. Johanna Söderberg is a Swedish singer, one half of the sister duo First Aid Kit, whose work is built on close vocal harmony.

Together the pair perform in a spare acoustic setting, trading lead lines and harmonising, with the arrangements kept quiet enough that the words and the blend between the two voices carry the songs.
