Melbourne band with an absurd release rate, moving between microtonal tuning, thrash metal, boogie and synth-heavy jams, often mid-set.

King Gizzard formed in Melbourne around 2010 as a six-piece, with Stu Mackenzie writing most of the material and two drummers for much of their run. They released five albums in 2017 alone, having announced the plan in advance, and have kept up a pace of several records a year since.

Flying Microtonal Banana used custom guitars refretted for 24-tone tuning, Nonagon Infinity loops end to end so the last track runs back into the first, and Infest the Rats' Nest is straight thrash. The band encourages taping and has released official bootlegs of its own shows, and sets often run past two hours with songs stitched into long medleys.
