Lake Malice
UK duo welding nu-metal bounce to electronic noise — abrasive, hooky, and loud out of all proportion to their size.
Lake Malice are a two-piece formed in Brighton, England, built around vocalist Alice Guala and guitarist and producer Blake Cornish. Guala, who is originally from Italy, moves between clean singing, rapped phrasing and screamed passages, while Cornish handles the guitars and the electronic side of the arrangements.
Their music sits between metalcore and nu-metal, with programmed beats, glitchy synth textures and drops borrowed from electronic dance music placed alongside downtuned riffs. The songs are generally short and chorus-driven, which has led to comparisons with the wave of British bands blending heavy guitars with digital production. Working as a duo, the pair rely on backing tracks and samples to fill out the sound in a live setting.
