Megadeth formed in Los Angeles in 1983 after guitarist and vocalist Dave Mustaine was dismissed from Metallica. The band became one of the central acts of American thrash metal, distinguished by Mustaine's snarled vocals, dense twin-guitar arrangements and lyrics preoccupied with politics, war and personal grievance.
Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good! and Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? established the group in the mid-1980s, and Rust in Peace and Countdown to Extinction extended its reach considerably. The line-up has changed many times over four decades, with Mustaine the constant. Live, the band draws heavily on that early catalogue, played at speed and with the technical detail intact.
