Spanish duo folding flamenco and classical strings into club sets — live violin over techno, played straight rather than as novelty.

Mëstiza formed in Madrid in 2021, when its two members joined forces after more than a decade each working separately in Spain's electronic scene. They set out to explore their shared musical roots, folding flamenco tradition into club production under the Mëstiza name.

Their sets and productions draw palmas, cante-style vocal lines and guitar or string melodies from flamenco into house, techno and Afro house structures, often performed with live instrumentalists working alongside the decks rather than through samples alone. The results lean on dance-pop hooks and four-to-the-floor rhythms carrying melodies rooted in Andalusian tradition.

In December 2023 the duo released their debut album, Quëreles, on their own label, Sacro Music; it reached number one on Spain's official vinyl sales chart and drew praise for its reworking of flamenco through a club lens. Coverage has followed in El País, El Mundo, Rolling Stone and DJ Mag, much of it framing the project around Spanish heritage and femininity in club culture.

Since forming, Mëstiza have played prominent clubs and festivals across Europe, and in 2025 they became the first female DJ duo to hold a residency at Hï Ibiza.
