Belarusian post-punk sung in Russian — drum machines, cold synths, and an unexpected second life online, Soviet-bloc gloom turned viral phenomenon.

Molchat Doma formed in Minsk, Belarus, and sing in Russian over drum machines, cold synthesizers and reverbed bass, drawing on coldwave, minimal wave and early gothic rock. Their sound is deliberately austere, with Egor Shkutko's low, flat vocal delivery set against stark, repetitive arrangements.

The band recorded and released their first albums independently before their music spread widely online, with "Sudno" in particular circulating through social media and bringing them an international audience far beyond the post-Soviet underground where they started. They have since toured Europe and North America extensively.
