Sextile
LA duo splicing goth-punk guitars into rave tempos — built for a sweaty room, not a seated one, eyeliner running by song three.
Sextile began when Brady Keehn and Melissa Scaduto left Brooklyn for Los Angeles and started writing together in 2015, taking the band's name from an astrological aspect. They were quickly joined by bassist Kenny Elkin and multi-instrumentalist Eddie Wuebben, and after supporting Ritual Howls at local shows the group signed to Felte Records and put out its debut album the same year.
That debut, A Thousand Hands, worked an occult-tinged post-punk seam, folding industrial, surf-punk, psychobilly and ambient textures together. The 2017 follow-up, Albeit Living, arrived with a lineup change at bass and pushed toward synth-punk. By the 2018 EP 3, recorded as a two-piece again, the band had leaned further into electronics, EBM and darkwave.
In 2019 Sextile paused, with Keehn and Scaduto turning to side projects, Panther Modern and S. Product. That October, former guitarist Eddie Wuebben died at 29, and the songs that eventually broke the hiatus in 2022 were written in the aftermath.
The return brought Cameron Michel back on guitar and keyboards alongside new drummer Lia Simone Braswell, previously of Le Butcherettes and A Place to Bury Strangers, for a run of North American and Mexican tour dates. The 2023 album Push, released on Sacred Bones Records, leaned hardest yet into dance music. A fourth album, yes, please., followed on Sacred Bones in 2025 after Michel's departure from the band.
