Sextile is a Los Angeles group formed in 2015, working at the point where post-punk and electronic dance music overlap. Their music combines cold, treble-heavy guitar and drum machines with acid synth lines and tempos borrowed from rave and EBM, and the vocals are usually delivered flat and half-shouted rather than sung. The project began as a band and has continued through line-up changes, with live shows leaning heavily on strobing lights and sustained, club-length momentum. Sextile's records draw openly on early industrial, no wave and 1990s dance styles, and they are known for playing to dancefloors as often as to rock rooms.
