A two-piece making absurdly dense, tapping-heavy emo that sounds like four people having the best day of their lives — Gami gang, assemble.

Origami Angel is a duo from Washington, DC, formed in 2016, consisting of Ryland Heagy on guitar and vocals and Pat Doherty on drums. They work without a bassist, building dense arrangements from tapped and layered guitar lines that draw on Midwest emo, pop-punk and easycore. Their songs are typically short, fast and heavy on hooks, with lyrics that lean toward humour, friendship and references to video games and comics. The 2019 album Somewhere City brought them a wider audience, and their fanbase is known as the Gami Gang — also the title of a later double album.
