Epitaph-era skate-punk vets with pro-baseball roots and gruff, fast-melodic conviction — a deep-catalog set for the '90s SoCal-punk crowd.

Pulley formed in Southern California in 1994 after vocalist Scott Radinsky left Ten Foot Pole, whose members wanted a singer focused solely on music rather than splitting time with a baseball career; Radinsky pitched in the majors for the Los Angeles Dodgers, among other teams. The original lineup brought together Strung Out drummer Jordan Burns, guitarist Jim Cherry, guitarist Mike Harder and former Face to Face bassist Matt Riddle.

Their sound sits in the melodic hardcore and skate punk lane associated with Southern California in that decade: fast tempos, palm-muted guitar, tight harmonies layered over Radinsky's rough-edged delivery.

Pulley's debut, Esteem Driven Engine, appeared on Epitaph Records in 1996, followed by 60 Cycle Hum in 1997, @ !* in 1999, Together Again for the First Time in 2001 and Matters in 2004. Riddle left to join No Use for a Name full-time and was replaced by Tyler Rebbe. The band parted ways with Epitaph in 2008 and released the EP Time-Insensitive Material on its own label the following year.

A further EP, The Long and the Short of It, followed in 2011. In 2016 Pulley signed to El Hefe's label Cyber Tracks and released No Change in the Weather, its first full album in twelve years, marking the band's twentieth anniversary. The group has continued to work intermittently since.
